This girl is full of sass and fun.
One of her favorite events in May was skyping Ben in Peru. I know she really misses him a lot, and I'm so glad they can email and write letters whenever they want and talk twice a year. They look so much alike in this picture.
Most of Lily's busyness centered around singing. Her choir did a medley of songs from "High School Musical" for their final concert.See that mic on the right? The cursed mic of the night it was.
It had been causing soloists some problems, but Lily was unaware, since all of the kids are backstage waiting for their choir's turn.
The other soloist took her mic down and sang her part, then it was Lily's turn. She grabbed the mic for her solo, began to sing . . . and no sound came out. Well, sound came out, but it wasn't magnified for the auditorium.
I think if that had been me, I would have stopped right there and not known what to do. Not Lily.
She sang loud and proud as the audience cringed for her. It didn't faze her at all. When the concert was over, she voiced some disgust to me about it, but you'd never know it from her performance. I was really proud of her for muscling through it, even though it would have humiliated most others.
She also had her end-of-year voice recital. Wish I had a better picture from that day. She has grown into her voice so much this year. It's unusual, with a bit of a gravelly touch to it--think Adele--but she's started listening to her voice teacher better and it shows.
She sang "For Good" from Wicked, and even though she forgot the words in a few places, the song was beautiful.
Next year brings a whole new school experience for her. New school to maneuver. Uniforms to accessorize. New friends to make. It was a tough decision for her, but if anyone can take her new school by storm, it's our Lily.
Lily is so cute! Best of luck to her this fall!
