Planning

My kitchen island has looked like this a lot lately (minus the Krispy Kreme box--that was a special morning).

Version after version of cabin plans with additions, subtractions, and questions scrawled everywhere.
The iPad constantly out, combing Houzz, Pinterest, and eBay for inspiration.
My yoga mat and bandanna absentmindedly left out as I pore over the changes.

I so want this cabin to be a place where our family gathers for holidays and vacations and reunions--for the rest of my life.  That expectation has hindered my split-second decision-making skills a little on this project.  I want there to be room for everyone but not too much room.  I want there to be unique features but still stay within our budget.  I want to see the mountains and the trees but still have a covered place where I can sit and enjoy the summer rains.  Is that too much to ask?

We met with the architect yesterday for final interior changes, and he should have preliminary exterior drawings for us on Monday. I can't wait to see what it's going to look like . . . It's perfect in my head. You know what I mean?

  1. It's always been a dream of mine to have a cabin somewhere...I can't wait to go along with you and see how your dream unfolds!

  2. PS....so glad that Ben was alright, its ironic that this has been a really snowy winter and Drew only drives about 1.5 miles to and from school, but I so worry about him on the roads!

  3. I do know what you mean, and I hope it turns out just the way you envision it.
