Hi. Did you miss me the last three days?
I'm quite tired. Just spent three glorious days and two virtually sleepless nights chaperoning Lily's sixth grade Science Camp at the Tonto Rim Christian Camp.
For those of you who think AZ is just saguaro and scrub oak, think again. Like Lily's fingers?
All photos courtesy of iPhone. I brought my big camera--never even took it out of the car.
I'm so glad I took those three days to see her with her friends and see her growing up before my eyes.
And now . . . yawn . . . I need to catch up on a little sleep. Only two more weeks of school. And they are two very busy weeks.

Can you find Lily? Hint: She's the only one with her tongue out.
Our school takes the entire sixth grade up to the Mogollon Rim for three days of hiking, bonfires . . .
. . . spelunking, s'mores, stream studies, digging in an actual fossil bed . . .
. . . spooky stories, skits, team building games, giggling, staying up late . . .
. . . sharing showers and toilets and bunkbeds . . .
. . . archery . . .
. . . cool weather, pine trees, a few drops of rain . . .
. . . and time with my girl. She wasn't completely thrilled with the idea that I was coming, but a few times I caught her wanting me around and hoping I was watching her learn new skills.I'm so glad I took those three days to see her with her friends and see her growing up before my eyes.

You're so smart to grab these opportunities, because as you know, they don't come around again with that child. It's all about making memories that last forever - and the photo says it all.
ReplyDeleteWow! Jen, you're amazing! I'm not brave enough to spend 3 days with a bunch of 6th graders...in the woods. I'm tired just reading about it. Glad you had this time with Lillie though! (I laughed at the group picture of her sticking her tongue out - One of my girls always does that and I used to be the same way!)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing trip.
ReplyDeleteI was looking all over in that first picture for Lily's fingers! Duh! (It took me awhile!) What a cool thing the 6th graders do...I wish our school did something like that. Glad you were able to go!
ReplyDeleteawww
ReplyDeletewhat a fun trip
but yes i can see the 'yawns' coming too!
So much fun - and to think you have three more opportunities to attend!
ReplyDeleteI totally LOVED Science Camp....so fun! Glad you got to go and share that experience with her. My sisters school takes the 5th graders, wonder why they do different grades? Also, is Lilly doing workshop?
ReplyDeleteOne on one time-it's the best, good for you for taking the chnace to get some.
ReplyDeleteyou are so lucky to have grabbed that opportunity ... my time just flies by ... what a wonderful trip for the kids, it must have been a blast!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you went. So many times we hesitate before doing things like this, and they usually end up supplying a lifetime of beautiful memories. Rest up!
ReplyDeletevery fun - hope you can catch up on sleep tonite! loved catching up over here - guess the avengers is on my wish-list now ;-)
ReplyDeleteI remember the days of science camp...it's a fun memory to have and I'm sure Lily loved having you there. Or at least 20 years from now, she will remember it that way! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI wanna go to school in Arizona.
Looks like such a fun time.
I bet she really loved having you there. Really.
Get some sleep. Summer and kids is just around the corner. Lots of PB&J sandwiches ahead!
Sorry Jen, but you're not gonna catch up on sleep before school's out. Let's be realistic :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great experience for both Mom and daughter.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful setting.
This post brings back so many memories.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love the idea of a class campout.
ReplyDelete=)
This is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt took me back to my girl scout camp days...many, many years ago.
I think this is the coolest thing. My Granddaughters would love this, but it would probably kill me! ha!
Thanks for a wonderful link to
Alphabe-Thursday's letter 'Y'.
Hope you're all rested up now!
