Thanks for all of your comments on Thursday's post. The most surprising result of that post was how many women have commiserated with me--how many women have suffered or are suffering through a similar identity/personality crisis. I didn't receive any strong recommendations on how to make it through, but at least I now know I'm not alone.
Thanks again.
What did you do over the weekend? Were you here?
All I can say is--WOW. WOW WOW WOW WOW.
Why can't Hollywood make more movies like this one? IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Great action, but the action was secondary to character development and extremely clever writing. I loved every single second. I loved it so much that if it hadn't been 10:30 pm, I would have turned around and watched it again RIGHT THEN. There were so many clever moments and interactions that I need a second viewing to remember them all.
My favorite, hands down, is of course Robert Downey as Tony Stark. His quick, intelligent, highly entertaining banter and greying good looks remind me of someone I know and love:
And if you haven't seen it yet, make sure you stay until the very very end of the credits. The funniest part of the entire movie follows the credits. Brad and I laughed all the way to the car, quoting the funny dialog and reveling in the movie experience.
I can't explain to you how much I loved it.
GO SEE IT. NOW.

Genius, yes. Philanthropist, yes. Billionaire playboy, no.

That's what I hear - but I've also heard that if one doesn't know the characters and stories from past comic here movies that there is little chance of catching on in this one. What do you think? The Great Dane would be very happy if I were to suggest a movie night like this.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is a movie endorsement. We're going this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've seen most of the other movies (none of the Hulk movies), but I didn't think you needed to have seen the others. It's just so plain clever and FUNNY!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see this one. Everyone I know has loved it!
ReplyDelete=)
I didn't care to go until I heard all the great reviews. Now I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteMy husband & son went to see this yesterday & tried to get me to go - needless to say, I passed on it & THEY LOVED IT, too. So now your endorsement really makes me regret not going - darn!
ReplyDeleteWell, I hadn't planned on seeing this. I mean really?
ReplyDeleteBut now after reading this post, I'm gonna have too.
We took a break from wrestling in Tucson and saw it, I loved every second!! Such a fun movie!!
ReplyDeleteahhhh u are killing me
ReplyDeletei've heard nothing but awesome things about this movie
forget the kids........i told hubs we need one of those dinner and a movie dates ....forget the chick flicks...i'll take this one!
We were in Oxford today, and a bunch of people went to see it because the weather was not great. I chose to spend my time in art museums, antique shops, and famous pubs, but I've heard from everyone that the movie was great. I'll definitely see it once I'm back in the states.
ReplyDeleteHigh praise indeed, coming from you! Every "review" from people on facebook has been the same. I just told Jere this morning that I think i'd like to see it. Now I KNOW I want to see it. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
ReplyDeleteThis is on my go and see list. I'm looking forward to it now! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteBTW we were just teaching the story of Job in seminary tonight. When I get into those moods that story always seems to help. As well as my old standby Ether 12:5? (O remember, remember my sons (daughters)...)
Oh I'm so happy you liked it! Andrew is coming this weekend for his birthday and we're going to go out to dinner and then go see this movie. It's not the kind of movie I normally like, but I've heard good things (and tips like staying through the credits!) so I'm now looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI have heard this same review from many! Totally on the to see list now!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
We will! Sounds like a great movie night opportunity.
ReplyDeleteDana
Totally want to see this but I was busy being a GRANDMA (YESSSSSS) when it came out. I have heard nothing but great things about it.
ReplyDeleteIronman (both of them) are two of my fave movies - Love Robert Downey Jr. in this roll!
