The Only Snow Day of the Year

I just realized yesterday that I never posted pictures from my kids' snow experience up in Idaho.

Our drive to Idaho was clear, then it started snowing Saturday night and all through early Sunday morning.  You'd have thought it was Christmas the way my kids acted. I don't think Evie had ever seen snow before, and Hyrum?  Well, he wanted to be in it every second he could, cold or not.

Ben helped the other kids build a snow fort with the perfect, heavy, almost-warm snow.

It was so pristine and clean and white that we filled the cooler up and let the little girls eat it with a spoon--it amused them for almost an hour.

Sometimes I miss snow--I miss snow like this one was--beautiful, silent, heavy and not inconvenient.  I don't miss mittens, boots, hats, scarves, and mud.

I never thought I'd say this, but . . .

I'll take 120 degree summer days over snow.

Linking up to Jenny Matlock's S post on Alphabe-Thursday.

  1. I'm so glad that I was in Arizona that day....even though I had to come home to it the day after.

How fun to be able to let them just enjoy!
Ya, mittens, boots, wet cold...I'm over it.

  2. I'm so with you. I don't mind the cold, but the mess the snow makes when it's melting... I could definitely do without. The kids would disagree with me though.

  3. Every mother should have the chance to dress a child for below freezing weather (it was -40 in northern Alberta!) and then have the child, within minutes, need to use the bathroom.
Heat or snow? I'm with you on taking those high temps any day!

  5. I'm with you...I'll take the heat anyday over snow. The only thing snow is good for is taking pictures of the kids playing in it!

  6. Ew, no way. I'd take snow over 120 any day. I imagine we're on our way to that temperature here shortly. We had no winter here in Texas! The kids look like they had a blast :)

  7. I guess I'd take snow over the heat. I'm not sure to tell you the truth! We certainly have a lot of snow here, and I love it until about the end of February and then it starts to get on my nerves...

  8. I'm not big on snow either, but I prefer it over extreme heat. My mom lives in Palm Desert, and I don't like visiting in the summer much.

Evie is so full of life!

  11. I'm with you on that. Snow is nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. We never have to shovel the sunshine.

  12. Ha. I remember when we lived in AZ and we would visit my parents, we would have to buy coats, because we never EVER used those kind of coats in Mesa. I bet your kids were in high HEaven. Too fun.
