Gettysburg, 1863. I reflected on all the lost lives, changed families. Such devastating loss--over 11,000 casualties from one battle alone.
Then my mind wandered to 2011. There may be fewer casualties, true. But there are still heroes, still loss, still mourning families.
Take a moment today to remember our modern-day heroes and their families, standing sentinel over us and our country.
Thank you.
Beautiful reminder, Jen !
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen. We are definitely taking the time to do that today.
ReplyDeleteHappy Veterans Day!
=)
November 11th, at the 11th hour - and whenever we see one of our young people in uniform....
ReplyDeleteNice pics of Gettysburg. It's an awe inspiring place.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful picture. I love the shadow.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to remember and honor those who have given so much.
::hugs::
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful reminder, Jen. Living in a country that doesn't celebrate Veteren's Day makes it easy for me to forget the significance of November 11th. I have friends who fought in the war in Iraq and many of them came back safely. I should send them a quick note of thanks for all the bravery that they have shown :)
