The Wall

image from here

I ran the St. George Marathon twice--once in 2001, and again in 2005.

Hitting "the wall" is something that can only be explained through hours of training and actually experiencing it yourself. 2001--I remember hitting the wall at mile 18, and it was all I could do to drag myself the last 8.2 miles.  But I finished, and I came back for more four years later.

Help.

In the almost three years I've been blogging (that's a marathon in blogland, isn't it?), I have never hit the wall when it comes to posting.

Until this week.

Nothing.  Void.  Empty.

I got nothing.

What have I been doing in the meantime?  Projects, of course.  I'm energetically immersed in redoing my guest room--hard deadline is Sunday at 3:35 pm.  Why?

This little lady is bringing her parents to visit--for an entire week.

Then maybe I'll have a little spark of profound thought.

Even if I don't, I'll at least have photos of my beautiful guest room, right?

Any ideas?

  3. Sorry, I'm not much help...I got nothin' too. But look at this adorable little thing that's coming for a visit. Wordless photo posts are always fine and dandy.

  4. That little cutie is so worth an absence in blogville. You're busy fixin' up the nest--same thing as I have been doing! Hope you meet your deadline with minutes to spare! lol

  5. Some before and afters of all the projects you're working on. Or perhaps excerpts from the great lessons you've given lately. Just a thought!

  6. I've hit that wall a couple times and I think you just have to keep writing and writing (even if it's nothing) till you get past it.

  7. I've been at that wall for MONTHS now, in case you hadn't noticed. i've just had to learn to not let it bother me too much. Not that anyone really cares either, at least that's what it feels like. Can't wait to see pics of the guest room, and new pics of sweet baby.

  9. I'm with Kara, I'd love to see pictures of the work in progress. Or maybe some commentary on current events-Libya? The mom in Alaska who was just convicted of child abuse for putting hot sauce on her child's tongue when he lied to her (and more I'm sure, but with the media, who knows?) Politics, the new school year, what your day is like with just the little ones at home now. Just talk, we'll listen!

  12. Better go run over your own foot or drop your skirt in public. Or better yet, run over your foot and then have the car door snag your skirt so you are left standing in only your unmentionables in front of a huge crowd. That would make great blogging material. Especially if the foot took you to the er, where you had to ask for a gown to cover yourself and then you still had to pick up your kids from school so you stayed in the car in the gown, but then one of said children slipped and you had to get out of the car in the gown with your broken foot and hobble to help them on front of a bus full of kids and parents. There you go. Make that your goal for tomorrow.

The wall hit me on my half marathon at mile 11. It was death.

  14. Oh, I have a feeling that once that little lady makes her appearance you'll have all kinds of things to blog about. It will be interesting to see the interaction between her and Evie.
