What is K for, Anyway?
I've really drawn a blank on this one, folks. All's I got is kids. And I've got plenty of those.
Kids that are studying for finals
Kids that are writing History papers (and forgetting to take Biology midterms and then petition the teacher with puppy dog eyes, just to be told that it's okay and the test will be available for one hour tomorrow--can you say early Christmas gift?)
Kids that are wrestling (and eating too much pizza before a match so they don't make weight and then have to wear a black trash bag, two pairs of sweats and a beanie to sweat off two pounds in an hour just to lose a match on points--2-1--because there was no energy left to wrestle--picture above NOT from the losing match)
Kids that are writing state reports and melting down almost nightly about it
Kids that are reading Magic Treehouse as fast as they can check them out of the library
Kids that are occasionally using the closet carpet as a urinal, despite repeated warnings and strong discipline from Mom
Kids that are 13-and-a-half months old that still refuse to walk or stand alone, even though fully capable
And I wouldn't trade a one of them. Not a single stinky, smelly wrestling singlet or panicked middle-of-the-night phone call or poopy diaper or messy bedroom or teary fit.
I'm so lucky.
Brought to you by the letter K at Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday.

Kids...they'll be the death of us yet. And I didn't realize that Evie was being so beligerent on the walking thing. Good thing she's such a teeny tiny little peanut.
ReplyDeleteSo that will be 'K' for kids then! ;) Love the pics!
ReplyDeleteoh you were meant to be a mom, that is a given ... and i bet you are just amazing at it ... gotta love kids, they make life a lot more worthwhile ...
ReplyDeleteLove it. Okay, maybe not the peeing in the closet. I haven't had that one....yet. I love kids too.
ReplyDeleteNice to know someone who will tell it like it is. The urinal comment is classic. Mine went everywhere, it made me crazy. I walked in the room as my five year old was preparing to pee on an electric heater. I called that inspiration, he is 27 now and everything is in proper working condition thanks to his mom.
ReplyDeleteK is for....Karli! :) I can't believe how much Ben looks like Tucker in that first picture! Usually, I'm not one to think they look alike aside from the fact they're brothers, but it took me a second this time. Ah kids...miss them. Got a good dose of them last weekend though!
ReplyDeleteThe best K of all...looks like a great family and it looks like everyone enjoys the (K)itchen ;D
ReplyDeleteAnd WE'RE so lucky that we get to read about it!
ReplyDelete=D
Delightful K! Kids are the best!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful K post. You have so much going on and are so upbeat about all of it. Your children are so lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteK is a great letter isn,t it?! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy son was 15months before he started walking. He had one of those walker toys & would always use that to get around!
I think that K is for kids is perfect for you :) You love those kids so much and it totally shows. They are so lucky to have you as their mom!
ReplyDeleteA perfect Letter K...KIDS! Wow! And you do have 'Em...lots of 'Em with lots of Knowledge and Kinetic Energy! Great Letter K post and photos.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of an analogy our pastor used at church on Sunday. He was talking about people who collect trophies or accolades to make them look better to others and I leaned over to David and asked "do lots of kids count?". . .
ReplyDeletegreat post, jen ... though i'm sorry to hear about that poor patch of carpet ;-) finally managed to link up re: decorating traditions, love your linky-love-fests!!
ReplyDeleteEwwww....I missed the story about peeing in the closest-yuck! I never had one do that, thank goodness! What are you all poring over in that first picture?
ReplyDeleteKids bring us joy
ReplyDeleteI do have a small pink pouch filled with small tools. I now carry.
ReplyDeleteLots of K's hrrrm, kids, lol I only have kitties !
ReplyDeleteThis time of year is tough on kids with all they have to do... and tough on moms with all that the kids have to do! But yes, they are keepers! There's a good K word for you!
ReplyDeleteI love your choice for "K." You are such a great mom!
ReplyDeleteLove your kids! And please..Griffin was 17 months old before he walked!! I'm kinda missing the days when he'd stay put..I'm putting all my kids on a plane to come stay with you ok :) xoxo

You are one lucky momma (and Tucker is one lucky puppy dog eyed boy)
ReplyDeleteWhy of course K is for kids! That's the first thing I thought of. But since mine are all grown with kids of their own, I thought I would live that K word to someone younger--like you!!
ReplyDeleteJen! What a fabulous link to Alpahbe-Thursday. I smiled through this whole thing...and it made me miss my kids being little sooo badly.
ReplyDeleteYou are really a great Mom. I love the example you set to everyone around you!
Thanks for linking.
