H is for . . .

I know it's Veteran's day. I do honor our veterans. I have two close family members that served in Iraq. One has also completed another tour in Afghanistan. I do honor them. And their families. And their sacrifice.

But THIS is the H that is foremost in my mind today:

Next Thursday night/Friday morning, Ben and I will be at the midnight opening of the next-to-last Harry Potter movie. Can't wait!

Now, for an adventure in commenting today, answer this question:

If you could be any character from Harry Potter, who would you be?

I've thought about this a lot the past few days, as a matter of fact. (There is a story behind why that's taken up so many of my brain cells, but . . . it's not that interesting.)

Hermione is strong, but she does marry Ron, and I just couldn't go there.
Beatrice L'Strange is a great villain, but . . . no.
Trelawny does have some interesting parts of her character, but I just don't have the sight, if you know what I mean.

Lupin? Maybe. He seems quite heroic and brave and smart.
Snape? He is, after all, the underlying hero of the entire series. How could I stand to be so unappreciated? That might be hard.
Hagrid? Too tall
Flitwick? Too short
McGonagall? Too strict
Voldemort? Too scary

Not Harry or Ron or Ginny or Aunt Petunia or Nearly Headless Nick.

I did think it was Dumbledore for a while. I wanted to be him. Really wanted to be. Smart, flawed, struggled with his search for power and seemed to conquer demons. That's really not me, in the end.

So who would I be? I think I'm already her!
Don't you wish you had Molly Weasley's clock that told her exactly where her family was?

  1. Well, if only that clock was on the market, it would be the bestseller of all time.
    Honour to the veterans.
And wonderful reminder of Harry Potter which I shall be missing for now but will catch up as soon as it's on DVD

  2. If anyone needs that clock, it's you, Molly Weasley. If they invent it, I'm getting you on for Christmas.

  3. Hello Jen,

I am almost afraid to admit this, but I am one of the few people that has not followed the Harry Potter series... (yeah, I know... I hear the collective gasps). Maybe some day I will catch up. I do like the idea of a clock that tells me exactly where my family is at any given time! Well, not so much now as when my boys were growing up.

  4. Hello :) ,

I'm rather out of the Harry Potter loop I'm afraid, but I must admit the name Hermione does have a nice ring to it.

    Blessings,
    Catherine :)

  5. Dumbledore, for me! (Though I don't think I'd like my denouement too much...)

    =)

PS. I fixed the video from my post and had my parents give it a test run. Looks like it's a go, if you want to see it.

  7. Your comment about Hermione cracked me up-what's so bad about Ron? I think this is such a fun idea, and no idea who I'd be. I think I'm most like Hermione or McGonagall, but don't think I'd pick to be either of them. If I could be anyone I think I'd want to either Dumbledore or Harry. They get to see the most action. You did ask who we'd *want* to be-Not who we really are, right?

  12. Well, Hermione hair is upon my head.
Not brown, but a bit gray instead.

Following rules is important to me,
if only I was as smart as she.

And Ron is cute in a bumbling way.
Yeah, I could be Hermione for a day.

    (Okay, all together now...GROAN!)

  15. That is one of the funniest videos I've seen lately! I couldn't stop laughing at how cute it was. Why in the world did Dumbledore lose his clothes towards the end though? Hmmm...

I haven't been keeping up with the Harry Potter movies in a long while so I'm pretty behind.... Molly's clock does sound neat though!

  17. I am obsessed with Harry Potter! I have read all the books a few times. I am so thrilled for the final movies to be released. I have never thought about which character I would be most like. I will have to ponder on that one awhile.

  18. I think every teenager in America is glad that there aren't clocks of that sort. I'd sure love one though.

  19. I have never really gotten into those books/movies. Hubs has read and watched them all. I was finally watching the last movie...Harry was in the water...I drifted off...woke up and Dumbledore was dead. What did I miss???
But I have promised my son and so we are going to have a Harry Potter marathon, just so I can catch up.

  21. I've always related to Mrs. Weasley--
she is written as an ordinary mom--she cooks and loves her kids endlessly!
    This was cute!

  22. I'm about the only person on the planet who hasn't read any of the Harry Potter books.

My plan is to check into a hotel sometime for a few days and just order room service and read. Now...I just need to find that few days somewhere...

  23. I love that silly puppet skit. hahaha.

And I totally thought of Molly because that is who I am too. Although, I wouldn't mind being...shoot....she can change her appearance. Why can I not remember her name!? Ugh. Now it will bug me. I guess I have to go read the books and watch the movies (again!) Sooo excited.

I haven't seen any of the HP movies.

I haven't read any of the HP books.

I haven't even read the Twilight books that everyone is gaga over.

So, yea, I pretty much live under a rock.

But I liked your post anyway, cuz now I can say something and people will not realize my address is 1 Boulder Street on Gravel Drive.

Thanks for a cute link to Alphabe-Thursday.

    A+
