Not the E I was Expecting
You were probably expecting an E of this nature, weren't you? My E-V-D as she is known these days. Or maybe even eyelashes. Can you believe them?
I am tardy on my E post. Usually I write it Wednesday night. Not this week.
The kids had parent/teacher conferences this week, so they were out extra early--1:15--all week. And I had the privilege of teaching Hyrum's Joy School Monday and Wednesday mornings. All this extra kid time cut markedly into my me time. I spend most of my me time working on the 90-minute Institute class I teach every Thursday morning. But there was little to no me time this week.
So what was my recourse?
I pulled two college nights--that's right. Caffeine and carbs and late hours. Two nights this week I wasn't in bed until almost 1 am. My family is up around 6-6:30. And I always try to get at LEAST 7 1/2 hours of sleep. Optimal is nine. Sad, huh? Nine? Really? I think the two nights added together maybe added up to 10 1/2. Maybe.
I taught this morning. And it took me a good twenty minutes to get into the groove. So tired I was incorrectly writing words on the board, stumbling over phrases, even losing my place in my notes a few times. The oomph was gone.
Teaching that class takes it out of me for a few hours on the best of days.
Today, I'm exhausted.
There's a wedding reception in my back yard on Saturday. Eve's first birthday is Saturday.
I'm headed to bed at 8:30 tonight.
Buh-bye, Exhaustion.

Gorgeous lashes!. How do u manage 7 1/2 hr. sleep w/ your brood? wow, granted mine are out of the house and one still w/me and I haven't slept 7 1/2 in years.
ReplyDeleteHope you get some needed rest. This morning, as I was fixing the bed, I was already thinking about going to sleep. And, I don't have as much going on as you have.
ReplyDelete:-)
Su-sieee! Mac
This and That. Here and There. Now, Sometimes Then.
Hopefully, you will really manage to get yourself into bed at that time.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think it's really good for people to get 8 or 9 hours of sleep...I was reading about that. I'm lucky if I get six or seven, usually closer to six.
Ever since I went through menopause, I wake up super early and can't get back to sleep. It kind stinks!
=)
nice post! i can relate! but really isn't all the lost mom time worth it when you see those eyelashes on their little cheeks as they sleep?! e is for extra busy mom's! ...blessings... s...
ReplyDeleteGreat lashes! Certainly no need for Latisse for that pretty little one! Great post. COme join me soon! Anne
ReplyDeleteThis is a comment completely unrelated to your post (although I do hope you are getting some zzzz's).
ReplyDeleteHave your kids ever watched Jay, Jay the Jet Plane? Are you familiar with that kid's show? Has anyone ever told you that you remind them of Brenda Blue?
I'm tellin' ya. My boys popped in that video tonight and the resemblance was so striking that I actually checked the credits to see if you had been moonlighting as an actress in children's programming.
That is one beautiful little girl! I can feel your exhaustion pain! Get some sleep if at all possible!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful eyelash 'e' image, but I'm sorry the actual 'e' post is for exhaustion. Not fun. I hope you can catch up before the weekend you have ahead of you! Good luck -
ReplyDeleteShe's got some pretty lashes, and you sound like you had a go-go-gadget couple of days, too bad there weren't any of the cool tools to do some of the work for you.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your E . I hope you have a good sleep . Get some rest .
ReplyDeleteOh my, I can't even remember the last time I got 9 hours of sleep!! Luscious lashes!!
ReplyDeleteGosh look at those eyelashes!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some well deserved sleep =)
Here's to hoping that you get the ENERGY you need to pull it all off!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
yep busy busy for you!
ReplyDeleteas for her lashes! THOSE ARE TOOOOOO DIE FOR!!!
Oh, our little Eve. So darling.
ReplyDeleteI hope your long night's sleep happens, so a migraine doesn't find you.
Wow, college nights. I feel for you. Last time I tried to pull one of those, I couldn't function the next day. How in the world did we ever pull that off back when we were in college? Oh yea, we were much younger then, huh?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Evie's got the most beautifully long lashes.
Those lashes are UNBELIEVEABLE. Not fair.
ReplyDeleteHey, if I can get at least 4 to 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night...I feel like a new woman.
I don't think I've slept through the night in 17 years now. Seriously!
what gorgeous eyelashes! i am totally green with envy ... yes eyelash envy! I hope you get through your very busy week, and then get lots and lots of rest!
ReplyDeleteWhen my Joey was born, the first thing the nurses said, almost in unison, was, "His eyelashes!" I'm thinking, "OMG! He doesn't have any!" but he did, and did, and did! They just went on forever! He still has them and so do his two little twins.
ReplyDeleteI recently heard an interview on NPR about the importance of getting enough sleep every night. Lack of sleep is really dangerous, especially for a mother with young children. I hope you will be able to get AT LEAST 7 1/2 hours every night.
Oh man, I know how those nights can really wipe you out! And then getting to mom the next day, instead of nap... I wish you an early bedtime and plenty of sleep, tonight! Love you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie...try to slow down a bit this week. Happy alphabethursday!
ReplyDeleteHer eyelashes are amazing. Exhaustion....I think...THINK I am finally getting past mine. As for you lovey, you need a vacation.
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing!
ReplyDeleteI've had weeks like that where there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Yikes!
Evie - the girl with the lashes. I hope you get your sleep - I don't do well without mine either. I average about 6 1/2 hours a night but I do much better with 8-9, so I totally get what you're talking about. I just start babbling with less than 6 hours.
ReplyDeleteThose lashes!....she is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can go on with such a schedule on so little sleep. I hope you can carve some time out of your busy days for some 'you' time....and hosting a wedding reception in your back yard cannot be classed as 'you' time!
yes, I do love living in Tooele.
ReplyDeleteI know, I need a good 8 & 1/2 hours to truly function. Don't like it at all. Wish I was one of those that could function on less sleep. Sounds like today is going to be busy! Happy Birthday to the Beautiful Eyelash Girl! Hopefully you'll get some good sleep tonight!
ReplyDeleteGoodness. I hope you're catching up with youself this weekend...
ReplyDeletei don't remember if i told you this or not, but thanks for putting picky in your sidebar. you rock. :]
ReplyDeleteas for evd, you're right, those are some pretty amazing eyelashes. i'm a little jealous.
i hope her first birthday went well and that you got some rest this weekend. :]
I feel you! An ideal night for me is 8 hours, but I think I got about 5 last night and I can feel my eyelids drooping now. I try to convince the kids that Saturdays are for sleeping in, but they don't agree. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't read a single word after I experienced severe eyelash depression over your first picture.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any.
My kids don't have any.
OK, we do have some...but they are pitiful stubby things.
What an absolutely wonderful picture you shared with us. I hope you caught a lot of ZZZZ's.
I need at least 8 1/2 hours PLUS a nap.
But, hey, I'm old!
Thanks for the fun stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday.
It made me smile.
A+
